Health and Safety

Image result for danger sign

  • We will use the strap when using the camera.

  • George will wear gloves when handling the sharp tools to prevent cutting himself

  • As it was cold and icy when we filmed we will take extra care with our footing in case we slipped on slippery rocks/leaves

  • George will have a tight/ firm grim when "dragging" her down the steps or along the floor to prevent her hitting her head or grazing herself

  • We will make sure that the camera is properly secured to the tripod so that it will not fall off and it is safe to operate.

    Progress

Here are pictures of us setting up and some of the props we used. What went well was that the props that we used help reflect the sub  genre we wanted to show. However not everything went smoothly, the lighting was quite difficult to work with at some points making the characters look like silhouettes but we did manage to incorporate that into our opening sequence.

    Camerashot Prep Planning

With this opening sequence we want the audience to feel different emotions and have questions running through their minds such as fear and have them asking the question what is going to happen?

We also want the audience to know as little as possible to keep them guessing.

We want the audience to have these following questions going through their minds whilst they are watching our opening sequence:

    1. Why is "Molly" missing?
    2. Why has the location been abdonned?
    3. Why is she being held captive?
    4. Why is the captor keeping her captive

This picture is taken from low angle which we can use in our opening sequence (OS) show when Molly is being dragged, only showing her feet/legs.

This photo is taken from a high angle. We can use this in our OS as again this is a good angle for dragging a body.
This photo is from side titled angle. To link this shot to our OS we could use this angle to give a close up, detailed  view of our location or any props that we may use.

    PROS
    CONS
    The Equilibrium Theory
    ·         Always sets a simple mood for the movie.
    ·         Set the tone of effect.
    ·         Easy for the audience to follow as the movie goes along.
    ·         Becomes predictable
    ·         May seem like it is giving too much away.
    Binary opposites
    ·         Really basic for the audience to follow.
    ·         In films you are able to pick a side.  E.g. Good or Evil.
    ·         No new excitement
    ·         Too original

    Enigma Code
    ·         This type of film is able to grab the audience’s attention straight away.
    ·         Audience are able to get involved and can follow the story line with the characters making it more exciting.
    ·         Not enjoyable because audience have to concentrate to understand it.

Different representations - "Women in Black"

This scene is from the 'women in black' opening sequence. The characters are presented as happy young children playing in their bedroom. The costumes and the props suggest that the shot was set around the Victorian era e.g. the black pram and the lace dresses that the girls are wearing.
In this shot the characters look like they come from a quite wealthy background by the way their hair is well groomed which suggests that they live in a successful working class family.
In this screenshot, all three of the characters seem to be looking towards the door as if someone had called them. The girls are showing a blank expression almost as if they were possessed. The shot has been taking from the person at the doors P.O.V which keeps the identity of the person anonymous and also keeps the audience intrigued.
The next shot shows three windows which immediately the audience is drawn considering there are three girls. This links to the enigma code as the audience are constantly asking question to what might happen next.
This shot is a close up shot of one of the girls foot crushing a dolls head. This makes the audience question if they are possessed. Her boot suggest that it's set in the victorian era. The crushing of the doll suggest the change in the girls behaviour, because from the start the girls where caring for the dolls to now crushing it.

In the shot, the girls have a strong blank expression on their faces and are brightly lit up by the sunlight. They have suddenly started to walk towards the window. The positioning of the girls suggests that they are walking towards the window which might suggest they are about to jump out.
In this screenshot is a mid shot of the girls standing on the window ledge. The light that's coming from outside almost looks like they are glowing which gives an eerie effect. The way the girls have walked on the ledge without a single expression suggest to the audience that they aren't in control of their bodies - as if someone or something is controlling them.
This final shot his a close up of a doll, this is used as a prop for the girls whilst they were playing. the hair and costume used for the doll has a lot of effect in emphasising the fact that this film is following the theory of the enigma code. the positioning of the doll suggests that the doll was watching the girls as they jumped out of the window.
