Key questions for our Target Audience after viewing our Opening Sequence (OS): - Do you think our OS is appropriate for your age group? - Are the codes and conventions clear enough for you to make out what our genre/ sub genre is? - After seeing our opening sequence is there anything you would change? - Do you think the environment/ costumes reflect our genre/sub genre?

Thriller Poster Analysis

Image result for the conjuring poster

From the design of this poster the audience expect to see the death of characters, which is shown through the juxtaposition of the religious symbol (cross) and someone preparing to jump out the window. The character at the window is strongly highlighted to show that death is a key theme in the film, along with religion which is trying to remove the evil as shown in the poster. The dark, musty background has been created to show that its a horror movie, however white light has been inserted in order to highlight the importance of specific objects/figures. This portrays that the audience will expect atheistic moments throughout the film along with fear from each character within the film.

Audience expectations

poster analysis of our genre

Image result for the shining poster

The front cover of this drama thriller sub genre movie can suggest that the audience may expect  to see a great amount of suspense and a threat made against someones life. This a can be shown from the facial expression of the crazy man who has put his face through the large crack in the door which is also shown to of been done with an axe. As the audience we can again tell that it is a threat to someones life because of the woman who is screaming in terror.

Current Thriller sub-genre films showing at the Odeon

At the Odeon the current thriller sub-genres showing is "Deepwater Horizon", right now there is not a lot of thriller sub genres available at the cinema, from my research i have found that the more popular genre at this present time is Drama, sci-fi and fantasy. Many films are available in that category; for example, Assassins Creed, A Monster Calls and Allied starring Brad Pitt.
The thriller synopses for the Thriller sub-genre that is showing at Odeon cinema starts off using the equilibrium theory, were we see a man, wife and daughter all happily together just before the dad has to set off to work and at this point is when gradual tension starts to build, and in some thriller sub-genres we see this as a very typical thing.
In my opinion this tells me that at this time of year a thriller sub-genre may not be what people are wanting to see in cinema, therefore making it a less popular choice at this time also telling me that my audience age group would not go and see our film sub-genre in cinema now.
